About Dreamschool Advising

Finding a Path to Pursue Your Passion

Advising and consulting are similar in that the client is looking for someone to help them reach the next level. Based on my experience as an attorney and teacher, I see advising as more individualized with a long-term goal and consulting as more specific to quickly fix a pressing problem.

My approach focuses on how to close the gap between where you want to be and where you are now - whether tween, teen, or young adult. We break this process down step by step to pave that pathway together. An important part of this process is helping my clients develop the self-sufficiency needed to continue the journey beyond our time together.  You can also think of Dreamschool as a coaching service - it is important for the client to understand that they will have to put in the "work."

What is unique about Dreamschool is that you will have an advisor helping you work smarter not harder to make your dreams come true!

A Bit About Me

We all know that transitions can be the most difficult times in life. Fortunately, I have specific, relevant experience in this area.

I graduated from Evergreen High School at the age of 16. Since I was so young, my parents weren't willing to let me go to college out of state, so I landed at CU Boulder where I completed my degree in Economics. I immediately went on to Law School at the University of Denver and then started a career as a Public Defender in Denver and Fort. Collins. From there, I transitioned to private practice in Boulder focusing on Juvenile Defense work. While practicing law, I also taught in the Social Work department at Colorado State University.

In 1996, I gave up my law practice to start Boulder Prep High School in hopes of preventing more youth from entering the juvenile justice system. I worked at Boulder Prep advising youth for over 20 years as the Dean of Students, Headmaster, Program Specialist, and Senior Advisor. In addition to teaching core classes, I taught ACT prep classes at Boulder Prep and privately for over a decade. After more than 20 years of advising at Boulder Prep High School, I moved on to teach in the Criminal Justice Department at Metro State University of Denver. I'm proud to say that many of my former students have moved on to universities across the country and even abroad. Some have even gone on to graduate programs and received law degrees.

In 2020, I retired from Metro State to focus on expanding Dreamschool. My passion has always been and still remains helping youth figure out who they are and where they want to go.

Together we can discover how you can turn your passion into a profession.
